Protect Yourself Against Scams and Fraud

Be wary of Advertisers who ask for any of the following:

•  Requests for an upfront fee for ‘processing’ your Job application
•  Bank or credit card details
•  Drivers licence or passport information
•  Non work-related personal information such as your marital status or appearance
•  A request for or your acceptance of a money transfer where you can retain a portion as ‘payment’
•  Don’t assume that just because an ad claims to represent a company that it actually does.

Report Fraudulent Activity

If you suspect fraudulent activity:

•  Report it to LBF Consulting so we can remove the fraudulent ads and alert other job seekers
•  Report it to the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) who will investigate
    misleading job and business opportunities: http://www.accc.gov.au
•  Include a link to the fraudulent Ad or a copy of an email.

What to do if you suspect a Job Ad

•  Do NOT respond to the ad or email
•  Make sure you have up-to-date anti-virus software to protect your computer
•  Report the suspicious Ad to LBF Consulting IMMEDIATELY, providing a link to the ad or copy of the ad
    or email
•  If you have supplied your bank account or credit card details, please contact your financial institution
   immediately and ask for their advice.
