AIMSC Meet the Buyer eventLBF Consulting was one of a group of Indigenous business who attended AIMSC’s inaugural Meet the Buyer event on February 18.
Yaama Dhiyaan Hospitality Training College was the venue, located next door to Carriage Works in Redfern. It’s a great meeting space – an exciting mix of industrial chic and contemporary space. Founder Aunty Beryl Van-Oploo gave attendees a Welcome to Country and explained the meaning of Yaama Dhiyaan: ‘happy to meet you, you are welcome’. Aunty Beryl has now realised her dream for Yaama Dhiyaan to be a fully operational hospitality training college and function centre. The Meet the Buyer initiative provided a meeting space for Indigenous Business suppliers to meet one on one with private and public sector procurers including Gilbert + Tobin, Compass, Cisco, QANTAS and DEEWR (Department of Education Employment and Workplace Relations), to name just a few. The aim? For this to translate into real opportunities for all AIMSC business members. The atmosphere buzzed as businesses and buyers met one-on-one to pitch their services within a 10 minute timeframe, a la speed-dating style. But with so much talent in the room, ten minute meet ‘n’greets inevitably rolled on to longer Q & A’s. The only distraction from doing business was lunch - prepared by Yaama Dhiyaan’s hospitality team. Most diners opted for Kangaroo, which was delicious! Read more about AIMSC...
